Jenn Ocken rules! Not only did she spend an amazing weekend photographing the 24th Annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, and visiting with her “blues family,” she was honored with the Blues Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year Award. “I was so honored and speechless,” Jenn says. “I just love the Blues Foundation and its mission. No matter how long blues artists have been in the music industry, they all benefit from the organization. I want to thank Joe and the Blues Foundation for such a great honor — and I will see you at the Blues Music Awards in May!”
I just saw the first of the pictures, they are great! Thank you so much for all of your hard work, and especially your enthusiasm. It is was catching and comes through in your pictures — exactly what Kelly and I hoped to see. Thanks for making Kelly and Kevin’s new life together so memorable. You certainly have a gift and we all appreciate your talents and YOU.
Wow – I can’t even began to say how much fun I had shooting Kevin and Kelly’s wedding last night at Houmas House in Darrow, Louisiana. This was my first wedding of 2008, and we had a blast! I wish them both all the best, and it was an honor to be part of their celebration. To check out a few more pictures from their wedding celebration click here: Kelly & Kevin’s Sneak Peak

These cards will be back next year, and remember that we can also design personalized thank you cards and note cards for use throughout the year!
I have appreciated working with all of you and wish you a safe Holiday Season. See you in 2008!

Keep the cards blank inside to use them as every day notes.
Another of Jenn Ocken’s passions is blues performers, and she spends quite a lot of time documenting their performances. She created this photo diary of guitarist Jonn Richardson’s last two years — since he won the Albert King Award in 2005. The award is given to the most promising guitarist at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, TN. Get more information about the blues at http://www.blues.org/.
Erin and Tony had the best attitudes when the rain came pouring down on us during their engagement portrait! Erin, owner of A Stem Above florists, knows that when it comes to wedding events, the show must go on — despite the weather — and she and Tony agreed to be flexible. We escaped under scaffolding and the El tracks at Lake Street and State Street and photographed away. The available light of the city and reflected light from the rain and puddles lent a special glow to the atmosphere and allowed us to create a beautiful set of portraits. Thanks so much to Erin and Tony for their fearlessness when it came to getting a little wet. We had a great session.
