Jenn has just returned from her weeklong trip to Memphis, TN, for the International Blues Challenge. IBC is a four-day competition, this year with more than 150 acts from all over the world performing on Beale Street. The newest addition this year was the kid’s showcase, during which young blues musicians played in a safe, non-competitive environment. The photos below are of Sean Carney, IBC “Most Promising Guitar” winner in 2007, with a group of kids from various bands jamming after their showcase ended.
“I remember thinking there was no better place on earth for me to be than right here, encouraging those kids to play on,” says Jenn.
Many kudos to Jay and Joe at the Blues Foundation for creating such an all-around spectacular event! Best one yet!

Ocken Photography is once again proud to help produce the Out of the Box Bridal show in Chicago. The next show will be on February 19, 2009, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and we are excited to be a part of it. Please join us! Stop by our area to talk and meet some truly great vendors in the Chicago area. And oh, did I mention the show is way cool, at the MCA, and completely free? See you there.
The studio is a great place to photograph until the weather gets warmer. This classic portrait of Georgia was made for her grandmother, who made the dress Georgia is modeling.

Here’s Bob, out for a bike ride on a cold, sunny day. He loves to get out in the beautiful Arkansas woods. This picture was made at a race in November.
“The pictures were beautiful. Thank you so much for capturing so many wonderful details. The colors were spectacular. Thanks again and can’t wait to use you again at another proud moment in our lives.”

Thanks so much, Sasha and Kirk, for letting me show off your engagement portraits at the Baton Rouge Out of the Box Bridal event last Thursday. They made a great impression! Kirk owns Effeum Tattoo Shop on Government Street here in Baton Rouge.
Well, it’s not exactly my jet, but it is my photograph of the jet created for my newest corporate client, West Cost Charter. This shoot was in sunny Tampa, Florida, so I am truly sorry if it was cold, or worse, icy where you are. Welcome to West Cost Charter, and everybody have a happy new year.
It might be difficult to see them with the speed of the pigs, but my kids are in the background on the right. We had a great time watching the superbowl of pig races… Oh yeah, and deciding on a Christmas tree.
A crowning moment of tree decorating. It was also the day we went to a Christmas tree farm and watched pigs race. (Only in Arkansas.)
It has not snowed in Louisiana since the 1980s, but this morning we got to wake up to a white pre-Christmas in Baton Rouge. So beautiful!
