Jenn and Marie just had a great photo shoot out at Greystone Country Club! Thanks so much to the staff for keeping the club house and pavilion open on a Monday so we can utilize wonderful setting sun light to capture great images around the grounds. This is a great location for your upcoming wedding and holiday parties! You will be seeing these images very soon in their brochures and on the website.
Thanks again Jodi, Susan, Ron Jennifer and Ronnie.
Thank you to all that stopped by to see my work in Oak Park. It was very nice to talk with everyone and show off some of my work that’s not often seen. You can get a feel for what I was showing in my Interests gallery and here are some photos from the party.

This post will have no photographs or will it be promoting any specials or giving you an up-to-date on the latest happenings for Ocken Photography. Today this post is dedicated to two people that mean so much to me. I have so much gratitude for my brothers, Bob and Chris and with reminiscing this morning came an inspiration for expression.
“I have decided to dedicate my creative passion to telling peoples’ stories. Everyday is precious and everyday is a blessing, any minute I am holding my camera I want to be capturing the fine art of life. I dedicate my life to it and everyday I will celebrate it.”
One of my affirmation from when I lived in Chicago. January 2003
As a young documentary photographer I was inspired by two amazing mentors. Their critiques and guidance are not only driven by their devotion to the camera but by the love for their little sister. Everyday I am grateful for the encouragement, the heartache, the forgiveness, and the love we incur as family of photographers. Everyday I am a better photographer because of these two men. I am grateful for the passion and respect for photography these two have and instilled in me.
Bob & Chris, I love you both and thank you for everything.
Jake Black-Ocken wonders what his dad is doing. He thinks he has seen that black thing before but he’s not sure… I love photographing kids. I find them the very interesting and the most challenging subjects around. A new gallery of my fine art portraits of children is coming soon to bob.ockenphotography.com
For Jenn and Mitsy Murphy (long time client and now a good friend), the connection at the beach yesterday was a serendipitous turn of events! The day started with a “Hey, how are you doing?” phone message from Jenn. Mitsy called back to reschedule their lunch plans for Jenn’s birthday because the whole family went to the beach on a spontaneous get-away! Coincidently, Jenn was on her way to the exact same beach… with cameras in hand (as always). Mitsy was floored. What are the odds? And like Jenn and her cameras, Mitsy had packed all her white shirts, khaki pants for boys, and her daughter’s sweet summer dress. So, after Jenn’s scheduled appointment she headed over to make some wonderful pictures of the Murphys.
“Every day I am reminded of how sweet life is,” says Jenn.”This was a perfect unexpected evening with good friends.”
